M.I. Illapperuma

M.I. Illapperuma is a dedicated professional in community development and social services, with a focus on women’s and children’s welfare in Sri Lanka. Her career includes roles at the Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau, Christian Children’s Fund, and the Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organization. She has served as Director of the Women’s & Children’s NGO’s Council and the Women’s Navodya Foundation.

A committed advocate for health, she was a committee member at the Cancer Hospital and chaired its committee from 2010 to 2022. She was appointed Justice of the Peace and an Ambassador of Peace in 2004 and served on the National Committee on Women. In 2011, she was nominated for the Ginetta Sagan Award, recognizing her significant contributions to social welfare.
