Goal
All registered patients at the hospital receive their treatments and necessary investigations, procedures, or services at no cost. While most medications are supplied through government funding via the Medical Supplies Division, there may be times when certain medications are unavailable for some patients.
The Hospital Development Committee has approved a drug purchasing policy, which dictates that medications are procured in bulk to benefit multiple patients (Policy on purchasing medicines for NCISL through the Hospital Development committee). A list of essential medicines used for cancer treatments and supportive care has been compiled by the Sri Lanka College of Oncologists and is approved by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka (Oncology Priority Drug List).
Each week, based on current stock levels and patient needs, the hospital publishes a list of medications that are urgently needed or in short supply. This list can be found at the NCISL donation unit, which is open during working hours for inquiries.
