The Development Committee of The National Cancer Institute Sri Lanka

The Apeksha Development Committee made a significant contribution in improving patient care at Apeksha Hospital by donating 32 air conditioners on 2026.02.05, with a total value of Rs. 8.05 Million. These brand-new air conditioning units have been installed in various hospital departments including Bio chemistry laboratory, Blood bank, Pediatric intensive care unit, ,Microbiology laboratory and the Nutrition planning unit. This thoughtful initiative enhances efficacy the hospital environment by providing better temperature control, ensuring greater care of the high tech machinery that are being placed in these sections of the hospital in addition to the comfort for patients, visitors, and the medical staff.

At the request of the Consultant in Charge of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at NCISL, a brand-new portable ultrasound scanner was procured for use within the unit. Given that many patients in this unit are neutropenic and immunosuppressed, they are unable to leave the restricted isolation area when imaging or procedures are required. This scanner enables essential bedside assessments, thereby minimizing infection risk and improving patient care. The equipment is fitted with the necessary accessories to facilitate central line insertions and to perform echocardiography in children aged three months and above in addition to the standard scanning facility. This purchase was costing around 10.5 million and was made possible through the generous support of several donors.

 The generous donation of  875 curtains for the wards of the Rasavi Building at Apeksha Hospital, made by the Apeksha Development Committee, marks a meaningful step towards enhancing patient comfort and dignity. The total amount spent on this initiative is LKR 8,662,500 by the Apeksha Hospital Development Committee. This thoughtful contribution helps create a cleaner, more private, and soothing environment for patients undergoing treatment, particularly those receiving long-term care.

The Development Committee donated essential oncology medicines worth SLR 2.6 million in February 2026, supporting chemotherapy treatments and improving access to life-saving care for hospital patients.
