This Avurudu, support caregivers at the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka (Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama), who remain by the side of loved ones undergoing cancer treatment.
While the country celebrates the New Year with family and tradition, many caregivers—often parents, spouses, or close family members—spend Avurudu at the hospital, offering emotional and physical support to loved ones undergoing cancer treatment. These individuals endure long days and sleepless nights, staying strong while their loved ones receive life-saving care.
Many travel from distant parts of Sri Lanka and struggle to meet even their basic needs during their stay. Your contribution can help provide them with a thoughtfully assembled care pack, containing essential items to bring comfort and dignity to their challenging journey.
Each care pack includes:
1 single bed sheet with pillowcase
1 hot water flask
1 towel
1 bottle of hand sanitizer
Soap powder
1 pack of milk powder (400g)
Tea leaves (100g)
These simple items can make a significant difference in their daily lives, offering much-needed relief and reminding them that they are not alone.
Your donation helps uphold the spirit of Avurudu by extending kindness, compassion, and tangible support to those caring for cancer patients at Apeksha Hospital – the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka, the country’s leading institute for cancer care.
The total value of each care pack is Rs. 6,000, and our goal is to donate 1,000 care packs—enough to cover the current number of beds at Apeksha Hospital.
