Sustainable Energy Solutions for Apeksha Hospital: A Transformative Initiative
The Engineering Council, Sri Lanka (ECSL), in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), has launched a CSR project to enhance energy efficiency, electrical safety, and sustainability at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama.
Project Phases
The initiative includes:

Condition Audit – Assessment of the hospital’s infrastructure.

Comprehensive Energy Audit – Identifying inefficiencies and optimizing energy use.

Rooftop Solar Proposal – Implementing sustainable energy solutions.
The Condition Audit was successfully completed, and the report was presented to hospital management on October 9, 2024. This phase involved a detailed infrastructure assessment, paving the way for further improvements.
Expert Team & Collaboration
Led by Eng. Navodana Kankanamge, the project team includes Chartered Engineers, Associate Engineers, undergraduates, and NVQ-4 certified electricians, with support from Snr. Prof. Jagath Premachandra and hospital management.
Next Steps
The project now moves to the Comprehensive Energy Audit and Rooftop Solar Proposal, focusing on reducing energy costs and promoting sustainability.
