Apeksha Development Committee Donates Rs. 10.5 Million Portable Ultrasound Scanner to Pediatric BMT Unit at NCISL (2026.02.25)
At the request of the Consultant in Charge of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at NCISL, a brand-new portable ultrasound scanner was procured for use within the unit.
Given that many patients in this unit are neutropenic and immunosuppressed, they are unable to leave the restricted isolation area when imaging or procedures are required. This scanner enables essential bedside assessments, thereby minimizing infection risk and improving patient care.
The equipment is fitted with the necessary accessories to facilitate central line insertions and to perform echocardiography in children aged three months and above in addition to the standard scanning facility.
This purchase was costing around 10.5 million and was made possible through the generous support of several donors.
